The Age of Lilies

A work in progress; unsure of what I will finish it into. The work you will see here will be taking a slightly different direction. I cannot produce like I have in the past in order to sell my work but will consider genuine inquiries for a commission. You will see me post past work here now that I have left instagram, and new work. Finally, because it is the most important work of all and my words are inadequate, I’ll be sharing the words of those who have traveled the spiritual path that I am seeking to trek. It is my hope that they might inspire you and lead you to the Greatest Good of all – God.

Fix your eyes upon what is eternal or upon what is an authentic representation of its beauty: nature and souls in whom eternity is reflected. In your love for God and the passion of His glory are included the first three demands of the “Our Father”: souls have their part therein. Be occupied exclusively with Him. You are nothing other than seraphim before Him. If you must, out of duty, know the events of the world, do this superficially, without taking interest, without engaging yourself. Thus, keep yourself, your mind and your heart, free and silent. If not, your soul will be in tumult. It is sufficient for you to know how much God, who has men’s hearts in His hands and spreads over them the fruits of the merits of the saints, loves souls. (Taken from The Doors of Silence by an Anonymous Monk).

Gioacchino Di Fiore, the mystical theologian… held by some to be the spiritual father of Saint Francis… divided the life of humanity into three periods. In the first, during the reign of the Father, men lived under the rule of the law; in the second, reigned over by the Son, men live beneath the rule of grace; in the third the Spirit shall reign and men shall live in the plenitude of love. The first saw the shining of the stars; the second sees the whitening of the dawn; the third will behold the glory of the day. The first produced nettles; the second gives roses; the third will be the age of lilies….Thus as daylight to dawn or starlight, and as love to grace and fear, were lilies to every other flower or weed (Taken from The Floral Symbolism of the Great Masters by Elizabeth Haig).
